Membership

Pennsylvania Outdoor Recreation Association (PORA) is a trade association representing for-profit outdoor recreation providers across Pennsylvania.

Our members own and operate ski areas, adventure centers, outfitters, caves, and other outdoor recreation experiences throughout the Commonwealth.

How Membership Works

PORA offers two membership pathways:

  • Regular Members:

    Membership is included at no additional cost when your business participates in the PA Outdoor Adventure Pass Program. Pass providers receive full voting membership in PORA while directly benefiting from the program's marketing investment that drives families to participating locations statewide.

  • Affiliate Members:

    Businesses and organizations that support Pennsylvania's outdoor recreation industry but do not operate outdoor recreation facilities can join as Affiliate Members. This includes equipment suppliers, service providers, consultants, hospitality partners, and other industry supporters.  Affiliate Members do not have voting rights but receive industry communications and opportunities to connect with outdoor recreation providers.

PORA Member Types and Benefits

  • Regular Members:  Businesses automatically become a PORA member when they join the PA Outdoor Adventure Pass.  Learn more about the PA Outdoor Adventure Pass here.  Regular members receive:
  • Legislative Advocacy: PORA monitors legislation affecting outdoor recreation providers, building relationships with state legislators and advocating for policies that support private outdoor recreation businesses.
  • Industry Education: Access to professional development seminars covering risk management, operations, and industry-specific training designed for outdoor recreation providers.
  • Workforce Development Support: Connection to job seeker platforms, career awareness programming for youth and workforce pipeline initiatives that help members recruit and retain talent.
  • Industry Connection: Participation in the Annual Meeting, regular member communications, and opportunities to engage with other outdoor recreation providers across Pennsylvania.
  • Voting Rights: Pass Program providers (Founding Members and Regular Members) have one vote each in association matters including Board of Directors elections and bylaw amendments.
  • Affiliate Membership:Affiliate membership is $250 annually, or automatically included with qualifying PORA sponsorships at $1,000 or above.  Affiliate members recieve:
  • Invitation to Annual Meeting (no voting rights)
  • Eligibility to purchase marketing package ($500)
  • Monthly member communications (legislative updates, industry news, event announcements)
